Mission Delivery – Grants

Thank you for your support to the Keller Family Community Foundation (KFCF).  Your generosity has enable the KFCF to fund over $50,000 in transportation programs for chemo treatments at area hospitals throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois. During these tough economic times these funds are providing families an additional fighting chance to overcome cancer.  None of these additional programs would have been possible without your help.  Thank you!

The Keller Family Community Foundation is pleased to announce that it has given its first grant award to Ruth’s Free Wig Closet, Aitkin, Minnesota.  Jeanie Thompson and Janie Martz representing Ruth’s Free Wig Closet were presented their grant award at a recent KFCF board meeting.  Ruth’s Free Wig Closet is a wonderful nonprofit organization that offer programs available to cancer patients at no charge such as hats, caps, scarves, wigs, wig styling and cutting, and the “Look Good…Feel Better” services from certified cosmetologists.  In 1995, after experiencing the death of their mother from pancreatic cancer, sisters Janie Martz and Jeanie Thompson saw a need for a program to help women face the challenge of a lifetime. Through their hair salon in Aitkin, the sisters began collecting wigs, which they cleaned and restyled and offered at no charge to cancer patients.  At Ruth’s Free Wig Closet the most important thing is to help cancer survivors look great, feel great and look like themselves when they are going through the most stressful time in their lives.  Ruth’s Free Wig Closet was recently featured in a popular national magazine “Hometown Hero” article.  For more program information about Ruth’s Free Wig Closet or to donate to the organization call    218-927-2128  218-927-2128   218-927-2128   218-927-2128 or visit their website at RUTHSFREEWIGCLOSET.ORG.  Ruth’s Free Wig Closet is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and located inside Jeanie & Co Hair Salon, 116 Minnesota Avenue North, Aitkin, Minnesota.
